Hawa’s deep and colourful music is rooted in the artistic cultures
& heritages of the Middle East and yet the branches of this
musical tree reach up to various different parts of the world.
The music is mainly composed by iraqi composer, poet, singer and
oud player Mohamed Alnuma, who as well has rearranged some
traditional music in his own style.
Along with Oliver Dover’s clarinet and Raul Sengupta’s tabla
Hawa interweaves Indian rhythmic concepts with contemporary
and traditional Arabic Music and Jazz.
Hawa features poems of Sufi inspiration written by Mohamed
Alnuma as well as poems by the Sufi poets Al Hallaj and Ibn
Arabi.
The musicians, unified in the common purpose, embracing a one-
world view outside of the traditional paradigms, have met in India
2022 while touring with different projects.
