Sonalee Tomar is a contemporary Indian painter. Her moody work is almost entirely figurative, characterized by scenes of lush overlapping flora and form, innuendo and surprise.
Born in India, in 1985, she studied Industrial design, specialising in Textiles, at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India (2003-2008).

As the child of nomadic armed forces specialists, Sonalee was exposed to an incredible natural and cultural diversity, which forms the framework for continuous inspiration. Natural history museums, etymology, landscapes, indigenous cuisine and evolution of contemporary consumption patterns, scientific discourse, literature and documentaries.
